In Loving Memory of Our Matriarch

Jennie Oxley – 1929 – 2025

With heavy hearts and immense gratitude, we share the peaceful passing of our beloved Nanna in the early morning hours of June 3, 2025, at the age of 95.

For more than 55 years, she was our Monarch — the pillar of our family as a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Born in 1929, her life was marked by resilience, faith, and quiet strength. She lived through the Second World War, immigrated to Canada, and built a beautiful life grounded in hard work and compassion.

In 1970, after the loss of her husband, William Oxley, she began a new chapter — one that would make history. Jennie became the first woman to serve as Property Manager for provincial government buildings in Haldimand and Norfolk, with her office based at the historic Cayuga Courthouse. She held this groundbreaking role with grace, quiet determination, and immense integrity.

In retirement, Jennie gave her time generously — organizing pick-ups for donations for We Share at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Hamilton and travelling on missionary trips to Cuba well into her 80s. Her love for God was the foundation of everything she did.

She was strong and serious — but to those who truly knew her, she revealed glimpses of her truest self: sharp, funny, compassionate, and full of conviction. She taught us to stand tall, love fiercely, and serve with purpose.

Jennie leaves behind a legacy rooted in faith, family, and love. Though we miss her deeply, we carry her spirit with us — a guiding light, always.

Psalm 23The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
