Gili, Maria (nee Gravini)

At the blessed age of 104 years, Maria passed away peacefully in Hamilton on November 3, 2024 with her loving daughter at her side. She was the eldest of nine siblings born in Italy. She went to join in heaven her beloved husband Guido Gili and her cherished daughter, Danila. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted children, Adrian (Leanne) and Roberta (James); her cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth (Angus), Sandra (Anthony), Debbie (Daniel), Julia (Phillip), Jillie, Ava, Carissa, and Kalaya; her dear great grandchildren, Ellena, Daniel, Julia, Gabriel, Anthony, Gabriel, Isla, Siena, Maddelen, and Grace. Maria is survived by her beloved brothers, Pietro and Giorgio, both in Italy and many other beloved nieces, and nephews in Italy, Australia, United States and Colombia. 

Maria’s biggest passion was her family. To her, family was everything. She loved gathering with them around the table. Her other passions included: sewing, painting, gardening, cooking, reading the newspaper every day, soccer, visiting relatives in Italy and seeing the Alps. A heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Macassa Lodge especially A3 who took good care of Maria right till the end with kindness and compassion. Also, a big thank you to Mr. Rinaldo for helping the family.

 The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 50 Brucedale Avenue East, Hamilton, Ontario. The Funeral Mass will also be live-streamed with link below to watch during or after the service.
