It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rick on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in his 80th year, following a courageous nine-month battle with cancer. Rick will be profoundly missed by his cherished wife, Rosemary (White), his treasured sweetheart, and by his beloved and devoted son, Dan, and daughter-in-law, Cindy. He was preceded in death by his adored daughter, Tara, and son-in-law, Brad. Rick was a proud and loving Papa to his grandchildren: Rachel and Jack, Tyler and Zachary. He will also be remembered by his brother Tom and sister-in-law Sue. Rick is now reunited with his parents, Mary and Sidney Ramsay, and his sister, Barbara.
Rick had a lifelong passion for sports. He was an accomplished hockey player, baseball player, and bowler. After retirement, he embraced golf and became a member of Glendale Golf and Country Club. Though he loved the game, it was the camaraderie that he cherished most. A lifelong car enthusiast, Rick traveled across Canada and the United States for car shows, indulging in his love for automobiles.
Rick dedicated 40 proud years to Dofasco, beginning as a bricklayer. Through hard work and determination, he advanced within the company, culminating his career as a quality galvanized steel inspector. Throughout his years at Dofasco, Rick formed enduring friendships that lasted a lifetime.
In his spare time, he found joy in gardening, always striving to create the perfect lawn, often with the help of his loyal fur buddies, Rusty and Sadie. In recent years, Rick and Rosemary found immense happiness in their annual trips to Hilton Head, their "happy place."
As per Rick's wishes, a private cremation has taken place. The family invites you to share your "Rammer" stories at Rick's celebration of life, to be held at Rankin’s Grill, 1342 Main Street E, Hamilton, on Tuesday, August 27, from 2 to 4 pm.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Bob Kemp Hospice for their compassionate care.
