Obituary - Brian Victor Gainham ( Aug 7. 1952 - Jan. 26.2025)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a unique, irreplaceable man who was born and raised in the Aldershot neighbourhood of Burlington, Ontario. The beloved son of Delia (Rosart/ Gainham/ Sanders/ Craven) and Victor Gainham (both predeceased). He will be greatly missed by his older brother Gary (Shelley) Gainham and younger brother, John (Debbie) Gainham.
Brian earned his hard hat at Stelco (Rod Mill # 2), which became a lifelong career for him and where he made lasting friends. In the late 1970s, Brian and his wife Mary (Hayes) moved their young family to Stoney Creek, where they lived for over 40 yrs, thriving amongst the community they found there, contributing to and creating many good times along the way. Brian was a generous host and no matter how many people Mary had invited over on a hot summer day for a dip in the pool and a party, he was always willing to run over to Fortino’s for those extra burgs and dogs or across the road for ‘refreshments’, to then return triumphantly and fire up the grill! With Brian’s friends and family always dropping by, his home could sometimes be best described as a joyful circus - with Brian himself as ringmaster! Brian had a heart of gold and his generous spirit made for an incredibly welcoming home.
Brian loved his family and was so very proud of all of his children; Jason, Jessica (Jason Harvey) and Colleen (Tom Cowles), as well as his grandchildren; George (Christina), Gracie, Hazel, Tessa, Evelyn, Leo and Lucy. Brian will be joining his predeceased grandbabies; Bridgette & Oscar. Brian was a favourite son-in-law to Edith and Jim Hayes (predeceased), and he left a deep and lasting imprint on the entire Hayes clan. Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of the family have lost a beautiful man who wore his heart on his sleeve.
Brian had a larger than life personality . Each person that met him has a ‘Brian story ‘ and we urge you to bring and share those stories at a celebration of life that will be planned at a later date. Brian faced many adversities in health and he was remarkable in his resilience and determination to always move forward. Determined, loyal, proud, and a hard-working family man to the core - he was so loved and will be so terribly missed. Our hearts are broken. Your heart my dear, needed to rest. ❤️ You came when our hearts needed you ~ forever grateful and love you forever.
We are so appreciative of the loving care that was provided by Dr. C.Ambis, the MedOp Team Dr. L. Pyne, Dr. A. Molnar, (MKCC) at St.Joe’s ER and ICU department, especially from Nurses Jess and Erica.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s name can be made to Mission Services of Hamilton. Please take a moment to leave an online condolence for the family
