Marilyn Heimpel

November 27, 1937 — April 7, 2024

An amazing and beautiful wife, mother and grandmother (Gigi) passed away on April 7, 2024. Predeceased by her parents, Don and Agnes Muir. Survived by her loving spouse of 40 years Paul, and her adoring children; Eddie (Sarah) Kowalski, Cam Kowalski and Laura (Anthony) D'Alessandro, and grandchildren; Stephen (Becca), Alexandria, Olivia, Nicholas, Isabella, Zofia, Max, and her great-grandsons Selvyn and Malcolm. Marilyn will be missed by her extended family; Christa (Tim) Withers and Jana (Kevin) Brubacher and their children; Sydney, Abigail, Meagan, Connor, Matthew, Kyle and Liam. Marilyn's career path took her on a journey to a lengthy and rewarding career at Mohawk College, which ended up being a love story as well, since this is where she met the love of her life, Paul. Together they have traveled extensively and after retirement, spent many glorious winters in Florida. Everyone who knew Marilyn also knew of her passion for clothes and makeup. (This she passed down to her granddaughter Olivia, who lovingly adored her Gigi). Marilyn was always the belle of the ball, and would frequently provide guidance to anyone seeking advice on makeup application and skin

care! Her other passions included cheering on her sports teams (Toronto Blue Jays and Buffalo Bills) and occasional trips to the Niagara Casino. She was always lucky with the slot machines, but didn't share her secret for winning with anyone. Marilyn developed many friendships over the years; including her "Lunch Bunch" the "Gourmets" and the "Friday Night group" just to name a few of the special ones. She still remained close to girlfriends that have been in her life for over 70 years. Marilyn cherished her family and friends more than anything else. In honor of Marilyn's memory, please take a moment to laugh, love, and celebrate life and the people you hold dear. A love of nature was also integral to Marilyn, and this she adopted from her father, Don Muir. Don was a nature enthusiast, and also a huge proponent of supporting people in need. This led him to founding the Hamilton area Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) for those people who were experiencing need during their cancer journey. Marilyn and Paul became involved with volunteering for CAP events and eventually as members on the Board of Directors. This organization has been near and dear to Marilyn's heart for many years, and she was proudly in attendance at the CAP 30th Anniversary celebration on, March 15, 2024. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date, to take place in July. In memory of Marilyn, any donation to CAP would be greatly appreciated at cancerassist.ca
