It is with sadness that we announce the sudden death of Chris van Wetten, aged 63, on August 11, 2025.
Chris will be deeply missed by his wife Sue and their three sons, Eric, Scott and Matthew, his two brothers, Rick and Mike (predeceased by Len), his father, Dick (predeceased by his mother, Mieke), and his extended family and friends, including his best friend, Ameer.
Chris lived for his family. He couldn't wait to get home to them after work, get a beer, and sit down and play a game of backgammon with his wife, or do an activity from Games magazine or a cryptic crossword with his son Scott. Chris, Matthew and Scott were a common sight outside the house playing bocce. He would have celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary in September.
A master springmaker by trade, Chris was looking forward to retirement in three weeks, and had extensive plans for work he was going to do around the house. Chris loved doing jobs at home with the boys, like staining the cedar on his home, building a back deck, and building a retaining wall for the septic bed. This winter, he was looking forward to seeing if the Maple Leafs were going to win the Stanley Cup for the first time since his sixth birthday. He liked activities outside, playing horseshoes with either Matthew or Scott or hiking with the boys on weekends. He did jigsaw puzzles with Eric. He always had online Scrabble games on the go with his brothers Rick and Mike. He also enjoyed completing Dell magazine activities and other word puzzles, and playing card games with Sue and their close friends John and Maureen.
There are so many good memories of Chris that his family and friends will reminisce about in the years to come. He impacted so many lives, and will not be forgotten.
