Michelle Rose King (Sabourin)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michelle King on August 9, 2025, at the age of 69. Michelle was born in Hamilton, on December 4, 1955, to Lionel and Madeline Sabourin, and grew up in the embrace of a large and loving family. She was one of nine children and shared her life with siblings Ralph (Joan, Jo-anne, deceased), Paul (Joanne, deceased), Michael (Brenda), Lawrence (Linda, deceased), Louann, Christine (affectionately known as “Peanut”), and Theresa (Gary), as well as her late brother Christopher.
Michelle’s greatest joy in life was being a mother. She poured her heart into raising her two beautiful daughters, Amber (Derek) and Cassandra (Fraser), and treasured every moment as Nonna with her four adored grandchildren—William, Emma, Brodie, and Gabriel—who brought endless light to her days. She also shared a special bond with her many nieces, nephews, godchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews, who were like children to her and who will miss her deeply. Michelle held a warm and loving connection with her sisters-in-law from the King family, relationships filled with laughter, support, and treasured moments.
For 45 years, Michelle shared a loving and enduring relationship with her husband and best friend, Ron. Together they built a life full of laughter, devotion, and quiet moments that spoke volumes.
In October 2022, Michelle was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer. While the prognosis was just 12 months, Michelle—ever the fighter—lived courageously for 34 months. Her battle was marked by grace, resilience, and a strength that inspired everyone around her. She was described as a warrior and the “boss” of the family, but she was also a quiet listener, someone whose presence brought comfort and whose wisdom grounded those she loved. Small in stature but mighty in spirit, Michelle led with love in all she did.
Those who knew her will remember her unwavering kindness, her ability to listen without judgment, and the fierce way she protected and supported her family. She was deeply loved, and her absence will be felt beyond measure. Heaven has called another angel home, but her spirit will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Juravinski Hospital, St. Peter’s Hospital, and The Carpenter Hospice for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Dr. Ramos for his exceptional dedication, and to RN, Tanisha O’Brien for her guidance and support during these difficult times.
In keeping with Michelle’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held for the family, and a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
A warrior’s fight, a mother’s heart, an angel’s soul.
